Sandro Perruzza has served as CEO of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) since July 2014, leading Canada's largest engineering association. He favors collaborative problem-solving over top-down direction, preferring to fully understand a challenge before acting and giving staff the autonomy to learn through their own decisions.
Under his leadership, OSPE now hosts Canada's largest annual engineering conference, drawing more than 2,000 attendees each year. Perruzza also built out the Ontario Engineering Academy's corporate training programs, spanning six areas including technical communication, business acumen, strategy, project management, leadership, and licensure preparation, and has partnered with major clients such as Enbridge Gas on extended, customized training initiatives.
Rather than looking to a single mentor, Perruzza draws lessons from the range of people he has worked with over his career. His broader focus is on raising the profession's standing in society, promoting diversity and inclusion within engineering, and building communities of engineers equipped to tackle challenges like climate solutions.
