Prabhu Karunakaran, known as PK, is founder and CEO of Exterprise, a services company he established in 2015 that now operates across the US, India, Honduras, and Eastern Europe with more than 350 employees, offering onshore, offshore, and nearshore delivery for US-based organizations. Before founding Exterprise, he spent nine years at his first employer, then built and successfully exited two earlier companies in technology and outsourced services after striking out on his own in 2009.
Karunakaran describes his leadership as servant leadership, built around empathy for colleagues and recognizing excellence wherever it appears, and he actively invests in and mentors emerging entrepreneurs across technology, mental wellness, and home remodeling ventures. He often repeats the idea that whether someone works for a company or for themselves, they ultimately work for their customers, colleagues, and families.
Under his leadership, Exterprise has built a specialty in ServiceNow platform solutions and digital transformation for healthcare and government clients, deploying AI and machine learning tools to improve workflows, and launched a Virtual Employee Empowerment program during the pandemic to support remote work. The company holds SOC II, ISO 27001, and HIPAA certifications, and has partnered with New Apprenticeship to train more than 400 apprentices in ServiceNow skills.
