Dr. Nadia Akseer is a global health scientist and entrepreneur who founded Modern Scientist Global, a research consulting firm that bridges scientific research and creative communication. As a biostatistician and epidemiologist, she saw persistent gaps in data quality and analysis within public health research and built her organization to help widen access to scientific opportunity.
Her research work spans maternal and child health, nutrition research in Afghanistan, and new approaches to communicating health information across social media. She holds a faculty position at Johns Hopkins University and serves as a scientific advisor to Gates Ventures, with more than 70 peer-reviewed papers published in journals including The Lancet.
Akseer has distinguished her leadership style by building intergenerational teams that pair experienced researchers with junior scientists as young as 10 to 18, aiming to combine scientific rigor with fresh perspectives and artistic expression on issues ranging from COVID-19 to climate change.
