Mylène Lapierre is President and CEO of Chartered Professional Accountants of New Brunswick (CPA NB), the provincial body representing more than 3,000 accounting professionals. She holds the CPA, CA, CFE, EMBA, and GradCG designations and leads a lean team of seven that she describes as nimble and efficient.
In her first two years in the role, Lapierre shifted CPA NB away from a narrowly regulatory posture toward a more collaborative, innovation-minded organization, building growing recognition provincially, regionally, and nationally. She pushes back on the traditional image of accountants, framing CPA members as trusted business partners who deliver everything from audits and tax planning to process improvement and valuations, alongside community initiatives such as free tax clinics.
Lapierre's leadership rests on continuous learning, fact-based decision-making, and kindness, and she actively works to challenge assumptions about who can succeed in senior leadership, including the bias that mothers face in reaching the top. She describes navigating that bias as a process of moving past insecurity through careful research and considered, logic-driven risk-taking.
