Mark Goodway is CEO and Founder of The Matthew Tree Project, a charity he established in 2011 to combat poverty and homelessness. He founded the organization after a personal encounter with a homeless individual in 2010 convinced him of major gaps in existing poverty-relief services, and it has since grown into a nationally recognized model for multi-agency support.
Under the charity's 'Rebuilding Lives' approach, Goodway has built programs that go beyond emergency food aid to address the underlying mental, physical, and social causes of hardship, engaging people in extended, person-centered relationships aimed at building lasting self-sufficiency rather than one-off relief.
In recognition of this work, Goodway received an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours in June 2023, which he has said he accepted on behalf of the many staff and volunteers who support the charity's mission.
