Jim Fairbairn is CEO of Megger, a global provider of electrical power testing and measurement equipment. He joined the company in late 2017 with a mandate to refresh its strategic direction, and has since overseen several acquisitions that have added online, automated monitoring and diagnostic capabilities to Megger's product lineup, positioning the company for continued growth in electrical infrastructure testing.
Fairbairn brings strong technical credentials to the role, having become one of the youngest Chartered Engineers in the UK at age 26 and later becoming a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has built his leadership approach around integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement, favoring mentorship and coaching over top-down management, and believes organizational success comes from leaders who combine humility with a restless drive to keep improving.
Beyond his role at Megger, Fairbairn has contributed to broader public policy work through his involvement with a Royal Society of Edinburgh commission focused on building resilience in Scottish communities following the pandemic.
