Dr. Michael Olenick is President and CEO of the Child Care Resource Center (CCRC), a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that has grown substantially under his 17-year tenure. He has led the organization from roughly $89 million in operations with about 300 employees to a much larger agency managing dozens of contracts and serving tens of thousands of children and families each month across a wide service area, applying data-driven, business-style discipline to nonprofit operations.
Olenick describes his management style as weaving together different viewpoints into a coherent vision, focused on finding capable people and giving them the autonomy to do their jobs while keeping the organization aligned around shared goals. Under his direction, CCRC has broadened its work well beyond childcare referrals to include family support services, mental health consultations, and emergency assistance.
Notable initiatives during his tenure include the Foster Care Bridge Program, which has since been adopted more broadly, and the use of real-time technology tools to track service requests and speed up the deployment of resources during crises.
