Abu Nasir is CEO of GSV Sports Management, a UK-based sports consultancy with international reach that connects business and sport through consultancy, technology development, and investment facilitation. He has been involved in football since age seven, playing at youth level for Luton Town and Liverpool before injuries ended his playing ambitions at eighteen, having grown up in challenging circumstances with limited opportunity.
Before turning to sport full time, Nasir built a varied career, managing FTSE 100 client portfolios at Cable & Wireless in the City, serving as a political advisor, and spending more than 15 years in local government overseeing multi-million-pound regeneration programs. He holds degrees in public policy and management, political science, and an MBA, and has since managed business turnover of roughly £800 million and delivered projects worth close to £1 billion.
Nasir sits on Liverpool FC's board and the Football Association's National Game Board, and describes his leadership philosophy as built on mental toughness, working with trusted and like-minded people, and giving team members real ownership. At GSV, he is currently developing technology aimed at identifying football talent globally and facilitating international sports investment.
